The Department of Engineering and Physics at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position commencing in August 2025.  Providence College is a primarily undergraduate, liberal arts institution, and our department is home to students majoring in Physics, Secondary Education/Physics, and 3+2 Engineering. We seek a candidate who will thrive in teaching undergraduates at all levels within a physics-based curriculum. A successful applicant should establish a vibrant, ongoing research program involving undergraduate researchers, and we welcome applicants in all areas of physics-related research. In addition, faculty are expected to be active in service to the department, the College, and the physics community. The College has recently completed a multi-million-dollar Science Complex renovation that provides flexible state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities designed to support an array of pedagogies that enhance student engagement and that emphasize inclusive excellence.

The Engineering and Physics Department is committed to an on-going process of developing and implementing strategies to increase retention and sense of belonging for all members of our physics community. These efforts began with involvement in the AIP TEAM-UP initiative and have been sustained through the College’s HHMI IE3 grant. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate in Physics or closely related field (by August 2025)
• Clear research plan with potential to include undergraduate students while also achieving publishable scholarly productivity
• Successful teaching experience, preferably including higher education experience
• Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity, and equity

About Providence College

The Department of Engineering and Physics offers undergraduate programs designed to prepare individuals for careers in fields such as applied science, engineering, information technology, and research.
