Three postdoctoral training positions are available in the field of medical physics, in the Advanced Imaging and Informatics for Radiation Therapy (AIRT) Lab (https://www.utsouthwestern.edu/labs/airt/) of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (UTSW). The AIRT lab is currently funded by 4 NIH R01 grants and the major research directions of the lab include:
- Developing analytical and AI-driven medical image reconstruction, registration and segmentation techniques to carry out high-quality tomographic imaging to guide advanced radiation therapy, especially on-line adaptive radiotherapy;
- Developing data-driven algorithms through Radiomics and machine/deep learning to predict cancer treatment outcome for patient-specific treatment design, optimization, and intervention;
- Developing automatic quality assurance techniques for MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy using MR-LINACs.
Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Previous experience in programming (Matlab/Python/C/C++) and image processing is preferred. Knowledge in machine/deep learning and high-performance computing is a plus but not required. A Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, or related disciplines is preferred. Strong programming skill is essential. No previous background in medical physics is required. The candidate should demonstrate excellent written and communication skills.
Successful candidates are eligible to enroll into our CAMPEP-accredited didactic medical physics certificate program with the tuition waived upon satisfactory performance.
Information on our postdoctoral training program, benefits, and a virtual tour can be found at http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/postdocs .
