The Department of Physics at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, seeks a diverse pool of applicants for two new tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in theoretical/computational and experimental physics beginning September 1, 2025. We offer distinct B.S. degrees in physics and engineering physics, and we graduate about 10-15 majors each year. We seek an excellent, dynamic, physicist who would work on nationally-fundable research projects in experimental physics. We are particularly interested in the areas of condensed matter / low-temperature / quantum physics and quantum information, but outstanding candidates with other areas of specialization will be thoroughly considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, as well as post-doctoral research experience. The successful candidate must have the demonstrated ability to teach courses across the undergraduate physics curriculum, must be able and committed to contributing to diversity on campus, must be willing to contribute in service commensurate to rank, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to establishing and sustaining an externally-fundable research program that can actively involve undergraduates. The Department of Physics is housed in the new Sobrato Center for Discovery and Innovation (SCDI), a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility. The application deadline is October 25, 2024.
Applications should be submitted electronically as specified at: http://www.scu.edu/hr/careers/faculty.cfm Inquiries about the position are welcome and should be directed to physics@scu.edu.
