The Department of Physics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Lafayette, LA, welcomes applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2024. The department of Physics offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics, as well as an interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree in Earth and Energy Sciences.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the following research areas: Astrophysics, Space Physics, Biophysics, Condensed Matter and Materials Theory, and Energy Physics.
The successful candidate will be expected to: - establish and lead an active externally-funded research program within one of the specified fields, accompanied by a strong publication record; - collaborate with other research teams in the department, across the college, and the Louisiana Accelerator Center (LAC) to foster interdisciplinary research; - teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Physics and in the interdisciplinary doctoral program; - mentor and support graduate students and undergraduate students' projects; - contribute to the advancement of the Physics department.

Qualifications: · Ph.D. in Physics, with focus in Astrophysics, Space Physics, Biophysics, Condensed Matter and Materials Theory, or Energy Physics. · Postdoctoral experience. · A strong record of research accomplishments, evidenced through publications and presentations. A proven record in securing research funds is highly desirable. · Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is an advantage. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
