The Physics Department at Boston College is further expanding its highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research efforts across quantum materials and information, nanophotonics, plasmonics, materials science, nonlinear optics and biological physics (www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/physics.html). Beyond our four new hires since 2020, we now invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in computational physics with a focus on material properties. We particularly encourage applicants with an interest in developing collaborative research programs within our department and with colleagues in other departments, in line with the mission of the Boston College Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society (www.bc.edu/bc-web/centers/schiller-institute.html). Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for appointment at a higher rank.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, with a proven track record of scientific and professional accomplishment, as well as an ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Successful candidates will be expected to develop world-class research programs, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and contribute significantly to the educational and service activities of the department and University. Salary and startup packages will be internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications, training and experience.
