Austin College’s Department of Physics invites applications for a three-year Teaching Fellowship beginning Fall 2023. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to innovative teaching in a liberal arts environment and should be able to teach physics effectively at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory physics for health sciences, science courses for non-science majors, and upper-level courses for physics and engineering physics majors. The teaching load is normally two lectures and two labs per regular semester, plus two January Term courses over three years January Term. Supervision of undergraduate research projects is also a possibility, depending on interest and experience.

The search is open to candidates with theoretical, computational, observational, or experimental expertise in any subfield of physics, with a preference for applied physics. A Ph.D. in physics or closely related field is required, and candidates planning to obtain a Ph.D. before August 2023 will be considered.

The Teaching Fellow will receive training through The Johnson Center for Faculty Development and Excellence in Teaching, which offers programs throughout the year to its faculty to help them develop as teachers and academics. The appointment includes travel funds for conference participation.
