Argonne National Laboratory invites applicants for a staff position in the Condensed Matter Theory Group of the Materials Science Division. Current interests in the group are in the areas of strongly correlated electron materials, low dimensional many-body and non-equilibrium systems, and topological matter including non-collinear magnets, spin liquids, and superconductors. A particular focus is on computational approaches to these topics, including machine learning. A description of the Division can be found at www.anl.gov/msd and the Group at www.anl.gov/msd/condensed-matter-theory
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in a relevant area and some postdoctoral experience. The intended hire is at the Assistant Physicist (RD2) level, equivalent to an Assistant Professor. For full consideration, please apply by March 1, 2023. Argonne is a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center, where talented scientists and engineers work together to answer the biggest questions facing humanity, from how to obtain affordable clean energy to protecting ourselves and our environment. Ever since we were born out of the University of Chicago’s work on the Manhattan Project in the 1940s, our goal has been to make an impact — from the atomic to the human to the global scale.
Surrounded by the highest concentration of top-tier research organizations in the world, Argonne leverages its Chicago-area location to lead discovery and to power innovation in a wide range of core scientific capabilities, from high-energy physics and materials science to biology and advanced computer science.
