Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE All candidates are required to have: a) experience teaching laboratories in life and/or physical sciences such as chemistry, biology, and/or physics b) a background that demonstrates excellence in science pedagogy, c) a track record of continual self-improvement of teaching skills, d) enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate students in the sciences, and e) skill in teaching and communicating with students using Canvas (learning management system). Experience teaching high school science is valued. TEACHING, SCHOLARSHIP, AND SERVICE The successful applicant will be required to instruct a minimum of five laboratory sections per semester with a maximum of six sections. This will typically be multiple sections within 2 to 3 courses. In consultation with the course instructor and the science programs, the TLS will instruct the laboratories, including but not limited to, selecting experiments in consultation with the instructor, assigning pre- and post- lab work, and giving laboratory lectures. The TLS will grade all lab related assignments including lab reports and pre-lab quizzes and is responsible for all lab preparation and tear down. There is no required scholarship or service.
