- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Ability to develop novel research ideas and author funding proposals to support them
- Ability to coordinate and lead large meetings involving stakeholders across multiple US DOE laboratories, federal/state/local agencies, and international organizations
- Advanced problem-solving, analytical, technical, and organizational skills
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively explain and present complex concepts to any level of management or technical background
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills to work with multiple scientific and technical teams involving members from various disciplines and performing effectively under conflicting priorities and rigorous project deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25% effort) and to work off-/non-routine hours and outside of the office environment, including missions involving training sessions and when on foreign engagements
Qualifications We Desire
- Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related field
- In-depth knowledge of radiation detection and measurement and associated equipment
- Demonstrated technical expertise across a range of applications, including nuclear physics, x-ray and radioactive source-based irradiators, linear accelerators, nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapy instrumentation, and applications of radioisotopes in commercial industrial and medical settings.
- Knowledge of or experience on NNSA's programs in nuclear and radiological safety, security, and safeguards.
