The School of Arts and Sciences at Ahmedabad University is inviting application for faculty positions in the ‘Mathematical and Physical Sciences division’ specialising in Theoretical Physics. Candidates in the areas of Condensed Matter Physics and Astronomy are especially encouraged to apply. The School has five divisions: Biological and Life Sciences, Humanities and Languages, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Performing and Visual Arts, and Social Sciences, all of which work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary way. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing school in India in a dynamic new private university with a public ethos.
Appointees will be expected to engage in high-level research, to publish in their specialist field, to teach, guide and examine undergraduates, including in interdisciplinary courses, to seek opportunities to win external funding for their research, and to supervise and examine both Masters and Doctoral work. They must have an existing record of excellence and potential, commensurate with their appointment level and stage of career. They will be expected to provide evidence of excellence as demonstrated by publications in leading academic journals or a research project at an international level, an emerging record of scholarly accomplishments, presentations at significant conferences and examples of original forms of knowledge production. The University provides generous start up grants, seed grants and a Faculty Development Allowance to support faculty research
