Job Description
The Academic Program Specialist to the Vice Chair partners with the Vice Chair of Administration in the Department of Physics to support educational goals; provides instructional support including planning, design, analysis, and development of courses; assists with teaching orientation; ensures compliance with university and departmental policies; performs a wide variety of complex and confidential duties on behalf of the Vice Chair; coordinates course structures and scheduling; assists with new policy development; prepares reports, analysis and recommendations regarding enrollment trends and projections; serves as liaison between Vice Chair and Lecturers, Graduate Teaching Associates (GTAs) and Course Managers; communicates policies and procedures; instructs physics courses as needed.
Qualifications:
Required: MA in Physics, or a related STEM area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired: Instructional experience with experience in introductory level physics courses; 3+ years of direct management experience; proven ability to manage multiple projects through effectively delegating tasks and holding others to deadlines; experience using Microsoft Access and Excel to compile, interpret, and present data; previous institutional assessment experience; extensive training and experience with data mining, data management, and statistical analysis; demonstrated experience designing, organizing, and implementing complex initiatives; previous experience using Carmen, SIS, Qualtrics, and Access queries.
