We have an opening for a Nuclear Data Physicist to conduct analysis of experimental data in support of Nuclear Test Data program. You will join a multidisciplinary team working to analyze experimental data from legacy nuclear tests as well as data obtained from modern experiments collected with cutting edge diagnostic equipment. This position is in the Prompt Diagnostics group, within the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Directorate.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

In this role you will:

• Own a portion of the data analysis portfolio, utilize novel analysis methods, preserve and curate historical knowledge resources, leverage underutilized data, modernize analysis workflow elements, and supply laboratory staff with analyses upon request
• Conduct research to advance new capabilities in data analysis of historical and modern experiments
• Interpret analysis needs and respond to requests for analysis or related information from internal and external requestor by gathering and analyzing information and explaining procedures and guidelines
• Communicate results to internal and external audiences ranging from peers to sponsoring organizations via written technical reports and presentations in a timely manner
• Write research proposals relevant to programs and sponsors with the goal of solving key issues
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists and engineers and occasionally travel to other sites within the DOE laboratory system
• Promote and support plans to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within in the program
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Provide technical advice to management and set specific technical strategies to achieve program goals.
• Collaborate as a technical expert on multidisciplinary team, assume responsibility as primary technical contact for projects and establish project objectives based on personal judgment
• Work independently with minimal direction to identify solutions to complex problems
• Provide leadership that determines the outcome of projects or tasks and mentoring to less-experienced staff
