The University of Rochester seeks outstanding mid-career and junior candidates for an open-rank faculty position in theoretical quantum science in the areas of quantum information and fundamental studies of quantum mechanics in atomic, molecular, optical, or condensed matter physics. The School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Rochester is committed to hiring exceptional and diverse faculty and expanding research and educational programs in quantum science.
Mid--career candidates will be expected to build on the University’s tradition of excellence in quantum science in both experimental and theoretical research across several departments at the University and to lead new initiatives. Tenure upon initial appointment for qualified candidates may be granted, contingent on favorable review of the candidate’s dossier by the department, the dean and the Provost.
Junior candidates should be ready to make transformative contributions to quantum science. The positions will be in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, with additional appointments available in other University units, depending on research interests.
Candidates need to have a Ph.D., an outstanding record of research in quantum science, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels.
