Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks a dynamic, knowledgeable, and caring teacher for its Physics, AP Physics C: Mechanics, and AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism classes. Our school places the health and well-being of its students at the center of its program, and the successful candidate will be able to reflect and demonstrate those priorities in their pedagogy. With primarily in-person instruction, MPH teachers prioritize the importance of building relationships with students in an intellectually playful environment. We seek candidates who can enhance our co-curricular offerings in athletics, the performing arts, and other activities within and beyond the school day. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise a group of 8-12 students and facilitate or co-facilitate two clubs. The ideal candidate will be creatively responsive to student interests and needs and have a demonstrated willingness to participate in the life of the school.
Physics courses at MPH primarily enroll eleventh- and twelfth-grade students. The successful candidate will be a member of a Science Department that is committed to hands-on, data-focused, and inquiry-driven learning, and will need to guide and supervise students skillfully as they collect data. Cooperation and coordination with the Mathematics Department is essential for using similar language and course sequencing. With the possibility of occasional periods of distance learning and with some simulcasting students, comfort with teaching in a distance-learning environment is essential.
The following qualities are also desired:
An ability to enrich the Science Department’s elective offerings
An appreciation of physics’ interdisciplinary applications
An elevated pedagogical competence
At least two years of classroom experience with high school or college students
A proven collaborative spirit
A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in physics or a related field is preferred. Candidates should email a cover letter, resume, statement of educational philosophy, and contact information for four professional references to email@example.com.

In keeping with this commitment, we will continue recruitment, employment, compensation, terms, conditions, and privileges of employment of qualified persons without regard to gender, race, sex, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other category protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
