Primary Purpose: Carry out research and duties related to the project “Nuclear Security Advanced Manufacturing Enhanced by Machine Learning (NSAM-ML) Consortium”. While working at a National Lab in New Mexico, the Research Scientist is required to have active interactions and collaboration with the PI and the students.
Minimum Education/Experience: 1) Ph.D. in materials science and engineering or equivalent (e.g., Nanoengineering, Physics Engineering, Electric Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering), and 2) Strong experience in fabrication of functional materials and nanomaterials, Piezoelectric nanocomposites, and Silicon processing technologies and MEMS.
Required: The ideal candidate must have strong experience in i) Analytical techniques: HR-TEM, STEM-Z-Contrast, TEM sample preparation, nanoprobe techniques such as TERS, Synchrotron based techniques, (e.g., FTIR, XRD,…), ii) Nanomaterial fabrication (nanocomposite piezoelectric materials, quantum dots,…), and iii) Silicon processing and MEMS design and fabrication. He/She must have published in most of the above areas.

The Nuclear Security Advanced Manufacturing Enhanced by Machine Learning (NSAM-ML) is a consortium that unites North Carolina Central University, Elizabeth City State University, Southern University at Baton Rouge, Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Center for Integrated Nanotechnology to carry out research and education under the auspices of the National Nuclear Security Administration, an agency of the Department of Energy. The NSAM-ML is associated to the Centers for Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) and the Computational Center for Fundamental and Applied Science and Education (CCFASE) of North Carolina Central University. The NSAM-ML consortium leverages established strengths in research across the physics, chemistry, materials science, mathematics, and computer science disciplines, as well as nanofabrication science and technologies.
