General Physics Laboratory Manager

University of North Dakota invites applications for appointment as the General Physics Laboratory Manager in the Department of Physics & Astrophysics. The main duty of the position is to manage undergraduate physics laboratories accompanying freshman through senior-level physics & astrophysics classes. Job tasks include, but not limited to, coordinating lab schedules with course instructors, setting up equipment prior to scheduled laboratory sections, maintaining laboratory equipment in working order,  properly track and store laboratory equipment, ordering consumables, working with university IT professionals to keep laboratory computers up to date and functioning, developing and revising laboratory experiments and manuals as needed, training, scheduling, and managing graduate teaching assistants (TAs) including monitoring of performance as directed by the department chair, and conducting weekly TA meetings.

In addition, the laboratory manager is required to teach two laboratory sections each semester during the regular academic year (fall and spring) and should be available to fill in for a TA in the event of illness or other emergencies. Furthermore, the laboratory manager would serve as a resource person for above mentioned courses.  Preferred starting date is June 1, 2021.  Salary will be commensurate with experience/qualifications and will not be less than $45,000/year.
