Scientist Laser-Plasma Interaction (m/f/d)
As Scientist Laser-Plasma Interaction, you support our physics department in theoretical calculations and simulations on ultrashort pulse, high intensity lasers and their interactions with advanced targets.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
Develop, set-up, perform, and support simulations in the areas of ultrashort pulse, high intensity laser-plasma interaction and high field physics in plasma
Work collaboratively with other scientists (theorists and experimentalists) and engineers on matching simulation and experimental results, providing guidance on experimental setups and diagnostics required
Ph.D. in Physics or a related field plus postdoctoral research experience, or equivalent breadth and depth of experience
Experience and expertise on theoretical studies and simulations of ultra-high intensity laser plasma interaction
Previous experience in HED or fusion applications is a plus
Experience and expertise in one or more of the following simulation codes: Plasma Simulation Code (PSC), EPOCH, OSIRIS
Recognition as a resource or high impact contributor as evidenced by conference presentations or publication in refereed journals
Excellent proficiency in English
Capability to be flexible and creative in pursuing new topics and carrying out forefront research in high field laser-matter interaction, high energy density laboratory physics and particle acceleration
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with all members of Marvel Fusion and its collaborators
Availability to travel including international
Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative
Exceptional work ethic and a deep sense of accountability
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Ability to multi-task, working on conflicting priorities simultaneously, while always meeting deadlines and high standards of work quality
