The University of Houston–Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor of Physics beginning Fall 2021. The successful candidate will assist in innovative growth of the Physics BS and MS programs at UHCL, a non-traditional university located next to NASA Johnson Space Flight Center. The Physics program also has a Collaborative PhD degree through the University of Houston, the Carnegie R-1 Flagship institution in the UH-System. Research collaboration with NASA, other nearby research institutes/companies, or faculty in other disciplines (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Safety and Health) is encouraged.
Teaching Physics/Astronomy core courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Establishing an active experimental research program involving graduate and undergraduate students.
Providing service at the university and professional levels and performing other duties assigned.
1. Candidates must have a PhD in Physics or closely related field.
Experimental background in Materials Science, Condensed Matter Physics or related area.
Experience with active learning and PER teaching techniques.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
