Assistant Professor of Experimental Materials Physics

The Department of Physics at Brock University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Experimental Materials Physics effective July 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program complementing the existing strengths of the Physics Department in the field of Condensed Matter Physics, focusing in particular on the design, fabrication, and characterization of the kinds of advanced materials that impact areas such as sustainable energy, biomedical applications, nanotechnology, information technology and communications. This position will be cross-appointed with the new Department of Engineering in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (launching on July 1, 2021), with the teaching load distributed equally between Physics and Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Engineering courses on advanced materials properties, research and development, supervise graduate students, and fulfill service commitments to the Departments of Physics and Engineering, and the University. Consideration will be given to candidates who hold a PhD in Physics, Engineering Physics, or a closely related field. The successful individual should have a proven track record of research excellence. Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Professional Engineer within the Province of Ontario would be an asset, as is research and teaching experience in an Engineering academic environment.
