Thorlabs continues to grow its presence in the photonics marketplace. The inside sales engineer will work as a part of a broader technical sales and services team to qualify technical requests, execute and inform sales campaigns, and manage leads and opportunities. Furthermore, this role will be a Liaison and account manager for key university and research organization and be responsible for the growth and development of these relationships. The Inside Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving and leading key initiatives central to their role as an account manager and can include coordination of technical talks, campus visits, and other outbound promotions. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: - Utilize Technical Background and Understanding of Photonics Products to Qualify and Assist in the Progression on Incoming Requests
- Works closely with university labs and department heads to coordinate visits, talks, and other events
- Ability to understand customers technical and administrative needs and find a solution that meets or exceeds these needs
- Develop sales leads and opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts
- Work closely with Thorlabs customers to build meaningful supplier/customer relationships and identify new opportunities to serve the clients needs
- Work with business units and engineering groups to support the sales team needs
- Work with global sales teams to deploy and manage sales campaigns within given regions, industries, or research fields
- Commitment to monitor, update, and maintain CRM data including leads, opportunities, sales campaigns and customer follow-ups
- May have opportunities to travel to tradeshows, customer visits or other Thorlabs entities
- Appropriately communicate brand identity and corporate position

The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Qualifications Experience: - 3+ years in similar role with customer service, inside sales or business development
- Demonstrated success in a customer-facing role where key targets needed to be met.
- Hands-on optics/laser experience strongly preferred
Education: - B.S. required, physics, engineering, or related sciences
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: - Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated time management and organization skills
- Intermediate MS Office proficiency: especially Outlook and Excel, Expert proficiency in Excel, ERP/MRP systems or CRM is highly desirable
- Is able to work under time constraints
- Is willing to constantly learn new technologies, new applications and new developed products
- Ability to fluently write and speak English
- Travel to customers or tradeshows <10%
