ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of PHYSICS/ EXPERIMENTAL APPLIED PHYSICIST – The Depart­ment of Physics and Astronomy invites ap­plications for a tenure-track position in physics in the area of experimental applied physics starting Fall 2021. Re­spon­si­bilities include: teaching a full range of classes (from introductory to graduate level) in physics, especially courses in engineering mechanics and dynamics, electronics, and fluids; performing departmental service; and conducting scholarly activity. Minimum degree: Doctorate. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in physics or applied physics; a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program will be looked upon favorably. Candidates must have a plan for enhancing engineering-based physics courses, a strong commitment to undergraduate education and research, and a strategy for seeking external funding and research support. The Department currently has research facilities in thin films and surface science, optics, and plasma physics.
