| The Department of Physics at Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications for an outstanding experimentalist in atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics (broadly-defined to include emerging overlap with condensed matter physics) and related areas such as quantum information science / quantum computing. All areas within AMO science will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates whose research emphasizes quantum science and technologies or overlaps with elements of low temperature experimental condensed matter physics. The tenure-track appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of Fall 2021. The ODU Department of Physics (https://www.odu.edu/physics) currently has thirty regular and special appointment faculty, close to 60 PhD graduate students and more than 80 undergraduate majors. Research specializations within the department include nuclear and particle physics, atomic and few-body physics, accelerator physics, materials science and condensed matter physics. This appointment will provide many opportunities for collaboration with the experimental and theoretical groups within the Department of Physics, other departments on campus and at the nearby Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (www.jlab.org).
