RESOLV (Ruhr Explores Solvation) is a world-leading interdisciplinary research institution in Solvation Science awarded as a Cluster of Excellence by the German Excellence Strategy. The Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the tenured faculty position of a
Full Professor (W3) in Theoretical Physics of Electrified Liquid-Solid Interfaces
to start as soon as possible.
The new professor will establish an innovative research program by developing and applying cutting-edge computational approaches for electronic and reactive processes at electrified liquid-solid interfaces. The new professor will be member of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy and is expected to expand its research and teaching portfolios accordingly, including also teaching contributions to the basic courses in Theoretical Physics. Being deeply integrated in the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy (www.physik.rub.de) and in the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV (www.solvation.de), intense collaborations with existing experimental and computational research groups within the Faculty including ICAMS (www.icams.de) and across RESOLV’s member institutions are expected.
Applicants must be internationally renowned experts in the field of electronic-structure-based research of liquid-solid or molecule-solid interfaces, having a clear perspective toward treating electronic processes, such as charge transfer or (electro-)chemical reactions, at solvated surfaces at finite temperature and potential bias.
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions governing appointment of professors in accordance to §36 HG NRW:
Aptitude for teaching an academic subject (teaching degree, or to be ascertained in the course of the appointment procedures),
Qualifications to conduct academic/scientific work (generally verified through the PhD degree),
Additional academic achievements (habilitation or equivalent thereof, positive evaluation of junior professorship).
