Postdoctoral Scholar Positions--Hybrid Superconducting Quantum Firmware and Quasiparticles in Superconducing Quantum Circuits
The Levenson-Falk Lab in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Southern California is in search of two postdoctoral scholars to lead two ongoing experimental research projects on superconducting quantum circuits.
Project 1 focuses on the use of hybrid superconducting hardware and hybrid error suppression techniques in order to create low-error modular unit cell qubits. The project is funded by the NSF for a minimum of 3 years with the possibility of extension. This project involves working with at least 2 graduate students and 2 outside collaborator groups (Lidar Group at USC, Albash Group at UNM).
Project 2 focuses on characterizing and mitigating nonequilibrium quasiparticle excitations in superconducting quantum circuits. This project is funded by the AFOSR and the NSF for a minimum of 3 years. The project involves working with at least 2 graduate students and numerous outside collaborators.
Postdocs will be expected to spearhead research while serving as senior researchers and mentors in the lab. These positions offer significant independence and the ability to drive the direction of the research as the projects grow and develop. Positions offer competitive pay and benefits in a dynamic lab with an early-career PI.
Required qualifications: Ph.D. in physics or related field and at least 4 years of experience in experimental lab-scale research. Experience in quantum information science, device physics, AMO, or a related field strongly preferred.
Applicants should send a CV, references, and a short description of their past research experience to the PI at firstname.lastname@example.org
2 openings. Employer will assist with relocation costs.
