SUMMARY: The tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics is responsible for teaching lower division physics courses for science and liberal arts majors as well as upper division physics courses. Involving undergraduate students in research projects, development of a research program, and participation in the ongoing development of the physics program are required.
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities. Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising and service to the department and profession are expected.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
PhD in physics or a closely related discipline by August 15, 2020
Effectiveness in teaching, an enthusiasm for working with and an ability to inspire undergraduate students, and effective communication skills
Ability and enthusiasm for supervising undergraduate physics and/or astronomy research
We are interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching all levels of physics classes including all introductory physics and astronomy courses
Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests complement current CMU physics faculty research strengths and interests
Postdoctoral teaching and/or research experience
