FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Physics at the City College of New York calls for applications for a faculty position in Condensed Matter Physics with a starting date of August 26, 2020. The position is at the Assistant Professor level, but higher rank and salary will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
The successful candidate must have a strong research record and outstanding promise for future accomplishments in one or several of the following fields: computational and ab-initio methods applied to cavity QED in solid state systems, and/or the development of novel quantum materials for quantum information processing, quantum sensing, or quantum photonics. Preference will be given to theory but exceptional experimentalists may also be considered. The successful candidate is expected to have or generate an active research program and obtain independent external funding. The candidate will also be required to participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching, mentor graduate students and help in the growth of our graduate program.
Candidates must have a PhD in physics or a related discipline and at least one year of postdoctoral experience, significant achievements or outstanding potential in research, and evidence of and commitment to excellence in teaching.
