The Department of Physics at IUPUI invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in theoretical Quantum Science, to begin August 1, 2020. We seek candidates with a proven record in areas aligned with the national quantum initiative, including quantum computing, quantum sensors, quantum communications, and materials for novel quantum devices. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can establish collaborations within the Department and with other academic units in the IU and Purdue communities. A track record of working with experimental collaborators and converting one’s ideas into experimentally feasible projects is highly desired. The Department is especially interested in recruiting a candidate from groups that are under-represented in Physics. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in the 17 schools at IUPUI, including the School of Science, the School of Engineering & Technology, and the Indiana University School of Medicine. Researchers with a record of interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physics or a related discipline, demonstrate the ability to initiate and sustain an externally funded program of research, and be able to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
