Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on the original campus of Emory College in Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College of Emory University invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Physics to begin August 2020. All areas of specialization will be considered. This person will teach introductory and sophomore-level physics courses for majors and non-majors, and will develop upper-level courses for majors. Our recently opened state-of-the-art science building is designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, innovative teaching and scholarship in STEM. In collaboration with our colleagues in the Physics Department of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the physics faculty will have an opportunity to contribute to the future vision of the physics program which embodies the National Research Council recommendations for undergraduate physics education. Candidates must be committed to outstanding teaching and continuing scholarly activity.
A PhD in physics or related field completed by time of appointment. Candidates who have teaching experience, particularly with engaging undergraduate students in investigative laboratory exercises and using high impact pedagogies, are encouraged to apply. An ability to work effectively in a liberal-arts program with a diverse student body of first- and second-year students is desired.
