The Computer Science Department at Missouri State University invites applications for a tenure-track (full-time, 9 months) Assistant Professor position starting Spring or Fall 2020. The selection process will begin October 7, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
A PhD in Computer Science or in a closely related field (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Engineering) is required. ABD will be considered. Applicants are invited from all areas of computer science, but candidates with experience in Software Engineering, Data Science, and VR/Games are highly encouraged to apply. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
Applicants must show a potential for excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Other expectations include: (1) independent research leading to peer-reviewed discipline-related publications and potential for external funding commensurate with a Master’s level institution, (2) supervision of students research/theses/projects, and (3) service to the Computer Science department, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, Missouri State University, the local/regional community, and the profession. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. The letter of application must include a commitment to working with diverse populations.
All applicants must submit a cover letter detailing how they meet the qualifications, a curriculum vitae, graduate and undergraduate transcripts, statement of teaching interests and philosophy, statement of research plan, copies of two recent or representative publications, and a list of at least three references.
