The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time (9 month) tenure-track Assistant Professor in Physics. The position is in support of UNR’s commitment to research in advanced manufacturing. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or closely related discipline. Preference will be given to theorists or modelers with postdoctoral research experience in condensed-matter and or quantum technology. Preferred research interests are in the areas of: nanostructures, nanosurfaces, metamaterials and or metasurfaces as well as the design and development of new materials, devices and or architectures. This could also include theory and modeling that support advanced manufacturing involving plasma-based or other film deposition techniques. Candidates with experience related to precision sensing with potential application for novel and emerging techniques in advanced and or additive manufacturing, are also encouraged to apply. The duties of this position will include teaching physics at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to be an effective teacher and to establish a vigorous research program. Start-up funds will be provided.
This position is part of a multi-year commitment to establish UNR as an international leader in Advanced Manufacturing Research. The availability of this position is contingent on available funding.
