Senior Business Analyst
Senior Business Analyst (QBE Americas, Inc.; New York, NY) Identify and eliminate risks to insurance technology change implementation by planning and executing user-acceptance testing, monitoring test completion, coordinating end-users, escalating issues, ensuring developers understand business requirements, and soliciting feedback to support accurate testing and alignment with desired outcomes. Elicit business requirements from key stakeholders to develop implementation and improvement plans, evaluate business requirements, analyze gaps between current and future state of user applications and business processes, and recommend solutions for gap closure. Liaise with developers and subject matter experts to establish technical vision, analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs, and gather data to meet requests and achieve service level agreements. Review analysis findings, evaluate information, clarify issues, and escalate questions to define and communicate end-user requirements for the development of effective technology solutions, and to translate business needs into actionable processes. Support end-users by reviewing their requests and developing process documentation to deliver effective and appropriate solutions and process changes in conformity with business requirements. Collaborate with internal and external key stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements, accurately define project costs, schedule project timeline, and evaluate interdependencies. Assess current processes, programs, and systems to identify opportunities for standardization, increased quality and efficiency, cost reduction, and improved user experience. Identify training requirements for assigned projects and business units. Job Details: Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, plus 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
Using Microsoft Visio and IBM Blueworks Live applications to perform business requirements analysis, process mapping and modeling, functional requirements analysis, concept modeling, data-flow diagramming, data mapping, functional decomposition, interface analysis, and prototyping.
Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:
Interviewing and observing business system end-users to identify opportunities for system and process improvements;
Converting identified system and process improvement opportunities into business deliverables;
Conducting differentiated analysis across pre-policy issuance, actual policy issuance, and post-policy issuance transactions;
Running queries using SQL to pull data for analysis and testing;
Applying underwriting, risk management, claims handling, and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and statutory reporting concepts to recommend system enhancements and process improvements; and
Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
Integrating Guidewire Claims Center, PeopleSoft Accounts Payable and General Ledger, and an AS/400-based policy administration system with organizational processes to serve business needs;
Applying project management principles and methodology to large-scale projects;
Defining project scope, facilitating project planning meetings with key stakeholders, and assisting in project execution; and
Using Microsoft Excel to extract data sets, structure results, and create pivot tables.
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
Developing and monitoring strategic plans for resource acquisition; and
Assisting with managing expenditures for a budget.
