Job Description We are looking for an experienced, versatile computational physicist who enjoys owning investigations in complex multidisciplinary projects and takes pleasure in close collaboration with other scientists and engineers. This role will let you exercise your strong and practical foundation in electromagnetics and microwave theory pertaining to electron gun simulations, electron linac resonant structure design and linac computational modeling. You will also employ your real-world hardware skills in experiments ranging from prototype machining, brazing and cold testing through high-power tests and characterization of initial production units. Sometimes you'll help team members with system-level beam physics measurements, analyzing beam transport & magnetics, and you'll help with some Monte Carlo analysis. Responsibilities and specialization will depend on experience and strengths, and we think this is an ideal position for someone at the mid-level of their career with an educational background that includes a PhD in Physics or related field.
Specific Responsibilities: Develop and improve computational models for various medical linac components. Research and develop novel subsystem components such as electron linac and X-ray targets. Guide, direct, educate and mentor other employees on basics of electron linacs and systems. Work with other scientists and engineers to review and solve difficult technical issues.
Job Requirements Proven record of expertise in computer modeling of Multiphysics phenomena. This position will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a whose members encompass a diverse cultural background. Experience required in computer modeling of various medical linac components such as: electron gun, linear accelerator, X-ray collimation subsystem. Experience required in computer simulations to characterize electron beam dynamics, X-ray beam generation and transport through collimator to patient anatomy. Experience required in several of the following: electromagnetic CAD, microwave test and measurement, highpower microwave sources and systems, accelerator system maintenance and operation and electron beam diagnostics. The typical education for this position includes a PhD in Physics or related field. Experience with high performance computing systems. Background includes familiarity with several instruments and microwave components such as: vector network analyzer, power meter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, waveguide networks, isolator, magnetron, klystron, modulator. Experience with computer control of laboratory equipment. Experience with multi-parameter multi-objective function optimization techniques. Proficiency with finite element simulation tools. Proficiency with Monte Carlo simulation tools like Geant4. Proficiency with Matlab, Python, C++, Fortran, Mathematica, LabView. Experience with code parallelization is a plus.
