Sandia National Laboratories
: Are you passionate about your work and dream of utilizing state\-of\-the\-art facilities to explore solutions? Do you want to join a dynamic team that helps tackle some the most challenging issues facing our nation's security? This position includes the development and use of physics\-based models of flight systems \(rockets, missiles, aircraft, spacecraft, etc\.\) as well as ground\-based and satellite\-based sensors\. The job includes performing analysis of these systems in engagement and mission scenarios\. The successful candidate will both create models and utilize frameworks that already exist\. These models and algorithms will be implemented in flexible, fast\-running, and large\-scale simulations at various classification levels\. Teaming is important\. You will join a diverse department with diverse talents in different areas of advanced aerospace concepts\. We are located within a systems analysis organization inside a flight system center where we design, build, and flight\-test these concepts to address national military needs\. In addition to developing simulation tools, we perform wide\-ranging analyses of aerospace systems for internal and external customers\. These simulations range in complexity from desktop analyses to supercomputer variants\. Our goal is to create simulation "laboratories" where systems, algorithms, and designs can be "tested" before being built and inform design trades\. Are you ready for your next challenge? Join our team and achieve your dreams while making a difference\. Required: + You have a Advanced Degree \(MS or PhD\) in Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline\.+ Undergraduate degree is also in STEM\.+ 4\+ years of Aerospace systems modeling experience in the areas of either engagement/mission analysis, world flight simulation, satellite operations, sensor operations, navigation principles, terrain analysis, guidance, control, or other aerospace modeling\.+ You have the ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance access\. Desired: Ideally, your background will also include some of the following: + Documented completion of coursework in flight/space dynamics, control, and estimation systems\.+ 2\+ years of Aerospace systems modeling experience in the areas of either engagement/mission analysis, world flight simulation, satellite operations, sensor operations, navigation principles, terrain analysis, guidance, control, or other aerospace modeling\.+ Experience performing engagement and mission simulations of military systems\.+ Large\-scale simulation software development experience\.+ Experience developing software on parallel, cluster, and/or graphic\-processor supercomputers\.+ Real\-time algorithm and/or hardware\-in\-the loop simulation development and experience\.+ Demonstrated accomplishment in the desired areas through publications in professional journals or conference proceedings\.+ Experience using C\+\+ or other high\-performance computing code\.+ Operational Experience with military/defense aerospace systems such as missiles, unmanned flight vehicles, airplanes, satellites, air traffic control, radars, or navigation equipment\. Department Description: The Scrimmage Department, 5491, develops an understanding of potential future warfighter technology needs through simulation and analysis of mission and engagement vignettes\. This allows for development of a deep understanding of potential gaps in warfighter capabilities and helps to drive proposals, technology roadmaps, as well as requirements for future systems\. The capabilities draw upon both the offensive and defensive technology expertise at the laboratory\. The department both utilizes existing tools and develops new tools for creating a robust scrimmaging capability\. The department seeks broad integration with warfighters and technology providers to the government\. About Sandia: Sandia National Laboratories is the nation's premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, with teams of specialists focused on cutting\-edge work in a broad array of areas\. Some of the main reasons we love our jobs: + Challenging work withamazingimpact that contributes to security, peace, and freedom worldwide+ Extraordinary co\-workers+ Some of the best tools, equipment, and research facilities in the world+ Career advancement and enrichment opportunities+ Flexible schedules, generous vacations, strongmedical and other benefits, competitive 401k, learning opportunities, relocation assistance and amenities aimed at creating a solid work/life balance\* _World\-changing technologies\.
