The Department of Physics and Astronomy at California State University, Northridge, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Condensed Matter Theory to begin Fall 2019. The search committee invites candidates from all areas of Theoretical (Computational) Condensed Matter. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong track-record in developing novel theoretical methods, algorithmic tools or numerical methods to study emergent phenomena in strongly correlated systems, topological quantum materials, or spintronics.
The successful candidate will join a rapidly developing, research intensive department with 21 full-time faculty members focusing on three main research areas: condensed matter physics, biophysics and astrophysics. It is anticipated that the University will provide start-up funds and reassigned time from teaching during the first three years of the appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program. Candidates must have a Ph.D. from an accredited University, with a strong record of research accomplishments. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.
