The Department of Physics at The Citadel invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor beginning August 2019. Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in physics or closely related field and a commitment to excellence in teaching, involving undergraduates in research, and service. In addition, candidates should exemplify The Citadel’s core values of honor, duty, and respect. Applications are encouraged from candidates in all fields of Physics and Astronomy, and especially those who can help expand the department’s offerings in Aerospace Science, or whose work complements current research interests in the Department.
Located in beautiful Charleston, S.C., The Citadel is a fully accredited, public, comprehensive, co-educational college with a student body of 2300 undergraduate and 1000 evening and graduate students. As a senior military college, The Citadel has a unique military tradition and a mission to educate and train principled leaders. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in physics for majors and minors. A normal teaching load is 9-12 hours per week with small class sizes.
