The Department of Physics at the City College of New York invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in experimental condensed matter physics. The position is open to candidates in all areas of condensed matter experiment including, but not limited to: growth and characterization of quantum materials (molecular beam epitaxy, quantum-limit scanning spectroscopy, and nanoscale imaging), solid-state quantum optics, and quantum metrology. The position is at the Assistant Professor level but higher rank and salary will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in physics or a related discipline and at least one year of postdoctoral experience, and outstanding research record. The candidate should demonstrate potential to establish a strong independent research program, and commitment to excellence in teaching,and diversity. The successful candidate will complement the existing strength in the area of condensed matter physics within the department, and have access to excellent resources including a state-of-the-art nanofabrication and imaging facility at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center located on the City College campus. To be considered for this position, candidates must include a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy (1-page limit), a statement of research interests (3-page limit), a diversity statement (1-page limit) describing the candidate’s thoughts on diversity in the classroom and workplace and the names and addresses of at least three references.
