Description The ILR School at Cornell University is the leading college of the applied social sciences, focusing on work, employment and labor policy issues of national and international significance. The ILR School is investing over $1 million in IT infrastructure at its Outreach Office and Conference Center facility in NYC. Key aspects of the location include technology enabled classrooms, conference rooms, huddle rooms and a modern, vibrant office environment.
Working under the supervision of the Director of ILR Technology Services and IT Security, the Instructional Technology Specialist is responsible for developing appropriate strategies for implementing and maintaining information technology across a broad range of academic programs and initiatives. Responsibilities also include providing multi-media and classroom technology support to end users.
This role includes but is not limited to:
Collaborate with faculty and staff across the school to leverage technology to improve learning outcomes and improve operating efficiencies.
Provide expert-level support of audio/visual, distance learning, e-learning and classroom technologies (CT) services for the ILR NYC office
Understand, maintain and troubleshoot conference room and classroom audio, video, and control systems and their respective components.
Perform at the expert-level on live video streaming and videoconferencing hardware and software.
Management, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades of all classroom and conference room technology, desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, multi-function print devices, networking infrastructure, wireless access, and VoIP telephony systems.
Coordinate technical support with ILR Technology Services, NYC Conference Center staff and ILR eLearning staff.
Develop and maintain operating procedures, policies and training material related to the use of information technology systems and software in support of ILR NYC operations.
Monitor financial activity and oversee purchasing and daily operations for NYC technology.
Manage external vendor relationships for technology infrastructure.
Assist with the development on internal policies for managing computer replacement cycles, inventory maintenance, classroom technical issues and other tasks as assigned.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education; and four years' experience with IT support, classroom technology and technical customer service
Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows and Macintosh computers
Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with a team as an effective team member
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse clientele
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Organizational skills and attention to detail is critical
Exercise good judgment, logic and troubleshooting skills to anticipate and solve problems independently
Proven experience in handling multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience training faculty and administrative support staff in the use of classroom technology
Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, when necessary
Extensive knowledge of administration and troubleshooting Windows 10, OS X, iOS and Android operating systems in an enterprise environment
Experience with Crestron DigitalMedia, Shure, Extron, Biamp, and other AV equipment and software programming
Familiarity with ADA requirements as they pertain to audio-visual system design
Advanced experience with office productivity software packages including MS Office, Adobe, Zoom and other applications
A+ Certification for computer repair
Experience working with Union environments and vendors
Experience with training users on new technologies
Experience filming video with DSLR or similar video equipment
Experience editing recorded video using tools such as Adobe Premier Pro or FinalCut
Experience using online delivery platforms such as Adobe Connect, Zoom, WebEx, etc.
Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas or Blackboard
