The Department of Physics, together with research institutes and centers including the Enrico Fermi Institute and the James Franck Institute, at The University of Chicago is conducting an open search at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The University of Chicago has an inherently crosscutting and interdisciplinary structure that is very supportive of newly emerging research opportunities and is open to the possibility of joint appointments between departments.
One of the goals for these searches is to strengthen the faculty in the areas of particle physics phenomenology, theoretical condensed matter physics and experimental condensed matter physics. Another goal is to increase the diversity of the faculty; we welcome applications from candidates across all areas in physics.
We particularly welcome applicants who come from groups that are underrepresented in physical science such as women, black/African American, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Hispanic/Latino scholars. Successful female applicants will be considered for a Clare Boothe Luce Professorship supported by the Henry Luce Foundation.
Applicants must apply online through the University of Chicago academic careers website https://tinyurl.com/yap4a4n7. Required items to be uploaded include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement of research, a statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for at least three references.
Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
