The UESTC International Forum for Young Scholars aims at promoting communications, exchanges and cooperation among young scholars in various fields by gathering outstanding young scholars home and abroad in the Land of Abundance-Chengdu. Young Thousand Talents, Young Top-notch Talents, Young Yangtze River Scholars, Outstanding Young Talents, 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations or the Global Highly Cited Scientists (Clarivate)
Excellent young scholars who are under 40 years old and in an official teaching or scientific research position of well-known foreign universities, scientific research institutions or corporate research and development departments, and have worked overseas for over 36 months consecutively after getting doctoral degree.
Young scholars engaged in basic and frontier research on quantum information, quantum optics, condensed matter physics, statistical physics, materials, chemistry, mathematics, etc.

China will provide 1-3 million RMB for scientific research, and UESTC will provide no less than the money given by the country

Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Sciences (IFFS) of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)
University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC for short) is one of the first 211 Project and 985 Project universities, and also, the only electronic information–oriented university. It is the first university in China with all the sub-disciplines of the two disciplines—electronic science and technology, information and communication engineering—being national key disciplines.
UESTC has seven national key laboratories, one national center for technology research, three innovation groups supported by the National Natural Science Foundation Committee (NSFC), seven innovation groups supported by the Ministry of Education, two national joint international research center and one national defense science and technology innovation group. Recently, UESTC together with the Sichuan Provincial Hospital established the School of Medicine, and founded the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Sciences, to strongly promote the development of fundamental research such as in Physics and Mathematics. The university has developed into a key multidisciplinary research-oriented university with electronic science and technology being its nucleus and characterized by the harmonious integration of science, engineering, management and liberal arts.
UESTC attaches great importance to talents work, and has introduced and trained quite a number of excellent scholars internationally renowned in their research areas. Currently UESTC has up to 277 first-class talents, including 11 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 22 IEEE Fellows, 149 selected professors of the Thousand Talents Plan (80 among which are selected ones of the Recruitment Program for Young Professionals), and 40 Yangtze River Scholars. UESTC established IFFS in 2014 specifically to attract experts in the areas of fundamental research, implement its vision for a high-level, research-focused university, strengthen its innovative capability, and enhance its academic impact. Supported by preponderant disciplines with a focus on basic theory and experimental fundamental research, IFFS will carry out theoretical or fundamental research focusing on electronics science and technology, Information and Communication Engineering, optical engineering, computer science and technology, biomedical engineering, control science and engineering, instrument science and technology , materials science and engineering, physics and other fields, and IFFS has successively established center of quantum information and center of physics and chemistry, mathematics and system science.
Our early stage efforts have helped the IFFS to attract a faculty,including academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, experts of the National 1,000 Talents Program, experts of the Short-term Recruitment Program of 1,000 Foreign Experts,chair professors of the Ministry of Education's Yangtze River, selected ones of the Recruitment Program for 1,000 Young Professionals and a scholar with National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Talent, etc. Our personnel mechanism and appraisal system follows an international management mode for scientific research organization and appraisal and evaluation system, building up international inter-disciplinary research teams and platforms for master scholars and young talents and providing complete software and hardware and space for free academic development.
After four years of construction, we have built information and quantum laboratory, center for information materials and devices, center for colloids and smart interface, center for energy conversion and storage, center for advanced nanodevices, center for nano catalysis & sensing technology, center for quantum artificial intelligence and so on more than a dozen laboratories and research centers . IFFS has undertaken more than 50 key projects approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST), National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC), Technological Office of SiChuan etc., the total funding of them about 160 million. Among them, Quantum information research center has been invested about 55 million yuan for construction, has approved 3 national key research and development projects and subjects, and the total project funding amounts 10.77 million yuan, used for research on quantum information, quantum devices, quantum software and quantum precision measurement, high polymer chemistry and electrochemistry. In the past four years, innovative research has been carried out in the fields of multi-photon quantum state, quantum entanglement state, material science nanomaterials, topological insulators, electrochemistry and polymer chemistry. IFFS has published papers on top journals such as Science, Nature, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Photonics, Nature Communications,etc.
Chengdu is the southwest China's three centers and two hubs identified by the State Council-science and technology center, business center, financial center, and transportation and communication hubs. In the first half of this year, the GDP of Chengdu exceeded 687.07 billion Yuan with the year-on-year growth of more than 8.2 percent, which is 1.4 percent higher than the national average of the first half of the year. 282 companies of the Fortune 500 have settled in Chengdu with the number ranking first among Midwest cities in China. The United States, German, Australia and other 17 countries have set up their consulates in Chengdu. Also, there are more than 100 international non-stop routes connecting Chengdu to cities including San Francisco, London, Melbourne, Moscow and Abu Dhabi, etc.
