The Department of Physics at the University of Otago is New Zealand’s top ranked Physics Department, and is located in the centre of the scenic Otago province. Our department has a vibrant research environment with strength in both theoretical and experimental AMO research.
In this position, you will join the Atomic Physics Group in a project that aims at using individually prepared optically trapped atoms to study atom-atom interactions and controlled individual molecule formation events.
The Atomic Physics Otago group is part of the Dodd-Walls Centre for Photonic and Quantum Technologies.
Your Skills and Experience
You should have a PhD in Physics, and a demonstrated strength in one or more of the following areas within experimental AMO physics:
Laser cooling and trapping of atoms.
Photo-association of ultra-cold atoms.
Laser manipulation of individual atoms.
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for two years.
