Wesleyan University's Physics Department is seeking candidates to fill two teaching positions as Assistant or Associate Professor of the Practice beginning July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will teach five courses during an academic year. Four of these will be laboratory and lecture courses associated with one of our two introductory sequences. The fifth course will be an upper level or introductory physics course. Collaboration with a current faculty member in ongoing physics education research is also possible. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor of the Practice; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in Physics or related field within one year of hire. The ideal candidates will have teaching experience. The initial appointments will be for 3 years. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.
