Job Details:

The Ruston, LA plant manufactures high-temperature industrial insulation using a 100% humidity steam-activated chemistry. It is a non-union facility with 70 employees.

  • Operations: Plant operates 20 hours a day, 4 days a week.

The Plant Senior EHS Specialist will focus on plant EHS initiatives, roll out safety policies, and think creatively to elevate the EHS program. If you enjoy working both independently and as part of a team, this position is an excellent opportunity.

Role Overview:

The Plant Senior EHS Specialist will collaborate with the plant operations team and corporate Safety team to support the goal of achieving a "zero harm workplace." This position is ideal for someone skilled in program implementation, multitasking, creativity, and influencing decisions to help drive EHS goals forward.

  • Reporting Structure: Reports to the Plant Manager and works closely with the Divisional Safety Manager and Regional Environmental Manager for direction and guidance.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health, Environmental, or an equivalent field.
    • Prior safety-specific training such as OSHA 30-Hour Certification or a Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • Experience:

    • 7+ years in a safety and/or environmental role within an industrial setting.
    • Must be comfortable working in a plant environment.
  • Qualifications:

    • Must meet one or more of the following criteria:
      • Served as the EHS Leader of a site for a minimum of 3 years.
      • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a specific EHS discipline (e.g., Fall Protection, Machine Safeguarding, Process Safety, etc.).
      • Holds professional certifications in Safety, Environmental, or Occupational Health (e.g., CSP, CIH, OHST, SMS, CEM, CHMM, etc.).
  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Strong working knowledge of federal safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, etc.).
