Safety Professional Description

Major Project group is seeking a Safety Professional on a full-time basis to serve at the Nuclear Station in Huntersville, NC. The individual will not only be responsible for safety of the group but the safety of everyone on the site. To that end, we're seeking an experienced Safety Professional who can evaluate the safety protocols followed on various job sites, organize safety training for employees and report problems to management.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the nuclear construction industry and the safety issues inherent to power generators and construction sites. The job includes significant field work observation activities (50%). The selected individual must have reliable transportation and a flexible schedule for seasonal overtime. The job requires the individual to climb ladders, crawl through tight spaces, and potentially work seasonal overtime day or night shift. Responsibilities include preparation for Outage Readiness Safety Plan reviews, scripting and facilitating a one-hour monthly Power Point presentation for MMP Implementation"s Safety and HU Meeting via Microsoft Teams meeting.

EducationExperience Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred (preferably in environmental health and safety or industrial safety) or experience in lieu of a degree.
6+ years' experience in the nuclear industry inclusive of successful completion of the Nuclear Background Assessment and security badging requirements.
Ability to travel in support of other nuclear fleet stations - potentially 10 to 15 percent.

Safety Professional Skills
Knowledge of OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 and EPA standards regarding nuclear power plants.
Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and technical writing.
Communicate/Interact effectively with all levels of the Organization.
Innovative new, improved tooling and processes to reduce safety risks.

Safety Professional Responsibilities
Script and facilitate a one-hour monthly Safety and HU Meeting Power Point presentation for the MMP Implementation"s workers via Microsoft Teams meeting.
Visit work locations to conduct safety audits on electrician personnel, lifting & rigging-material handling crews, and equipment operators.
Perform field observations to assess worker safety and human performance (HU) behaviors of electricians, lifting & rigging, material handlers, welders and associated support.
Field Safety oversight for On-Line and Outage Projects.
Assess and revise safety procedures and policies for the benefit of workers and process improvement.
Analyze safety occurrences and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts.
Lead injury incident investigation teams through case closeout.
Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees and contractors.
Prepare and conduct Observation and Coaching training sessions for employees and contractors.
Ensure MMP compliance with regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.). Initiate changes as applicable.
Track incident metrics and analyze findings.
Review MMP applications for applicable permits (Hot Work, Confined Space, PPE exemptions, Environmental).
Review Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all projects.
Perform safety planning for outage/online projects and annual MMP Safety Improvement Plan.
Participate as a member of the McGuire Site Plant Safety Continuous Improvement Team (CIT).
Represent MMP at other leadership safety meetings, as the need arises.
