POSITION SUMMARY
The Instructor of Mathematics will contribute to the Mathematics Program at Huston-Tillotson University by teaching a variety of Mathematics courses. This role requires the creation of a stimulating learning environment that supports both traditional and nontraditional students. The faculty member is expected to teach with enthusiasm and integrity, aligning with the mission of the University. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to urban undergraduate education, show interest in engaging undergraduate students in research and possess experience in program development and curriculum enhancement.

Founded in 1875, Huston-Tillotson University is Austin's first institution of higher education. The University is an independent, liberal arts, church-related, historically black institution located on a 23-acre tree-lined campus near downtown Austin, Texas. The University is affiliated with United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Negro College Fund. Undergraduate, four-year degrees in business, education, the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences are awarded. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Helping maintain a quality, competitive, and up-to-date educational program by preparing teaching assignments and presenting course material, which is current, challenging and thought provoking.
- Providing students with theoretical and practical subject matter
- Preparing comprehensive syllabi and outlines for each course taught
- Encourage students in course based undergraduate research in mathematics.
- Maintaining at least 10 office hours each week to be available for students
- Advising and mentoring Mathematics students
- Assisting with registration and attending regularly scheduled and special departmental and College meetings
- Serving on standing committees as requested by the Department Chair, the Dean of the College, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, or the President
- Performing related duties as requested by the Department Chairperson, the Dean of the College, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs or the President.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate level mathematics courses

- Facility in online communication via email, learning management systems, and online homework platforms.
