Our Chemical Solutions Maker plays the critical role of measuring and blending chemicals to create different products teachers use in their classroom. For example, you might be diluting a chemical with water so that its' molarity changes or you may be creating fake blood for a forensics activity by combining chemicals. Your safety is our top priority, so you will receive training on the proper ways to handle different chemicals and the PPE that will ensure your safety. Flinn also provides the PPE required for you to do your job safely.

The Repack Associate - Day-to-Day:
  • Your safety is our priority - you'll be required to complete thorough safety training and follow the training in your daily tasks
  • Understand and follow instructions on Production Orders which describe the personal protective equipment (PPE), chemicals, supplies, and apparatus needed to dispense or repackage chemicals.
  • Dispense or repackage chemicals based on Production Orders:

Collect the necessary equipment, lab apparatus, and containers to perform the work.-Conduct necessary quality and quantity control checks to ensure complete and total accuracy of chemicals being packaged.-Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process for correctness. Report all discrepancies to supervisor.-Manually or through machines dispense or repackage the chemicals with the required accuracy-Measure quantities of chemicals via laboratory apparatus for liquids, powders, and solids.
  • Safely and efficiently clean lab apparatus and equipment return to appropriate storage locations.
  • Stack finished products onto skids either individually or boxed. Move products throughout warehouse through the use of pallet jacks, cart, or hand truck.
  • Organize work to efficiently and accurately produce multiple Production Orders at the same time
  • Record work order information via computer such as production process time and date packaged.
  • Use computer and/or scanning gun to create labels for finished products. Mark items with the appropriate Flinn Item # when necessary.

What You Need to be Successful

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

1 - 3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What You Should Know About this Work Environment & Physical Demands of the Job
  • The work involves standing for the majority of the work day
  • To keep you safe, you must wear appropriate PPE, which always includes safety shoes and long pants. Based on the chemical you are working with, additional PPE or precautions may be required like: gloves, eyewear, sleeves, respirator, or working under a fume hood
  • Regularly use hands & fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 30-50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • The warehouse temperature fluctuates with outside temperatures - it is heated but not air-conditioned. Additional safety measures (such as additional breaks and hydration stations) are put in place based on temperature and humidity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
