GOH is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (). We are looking for energetic new team members with Texas STEM Education experience to support our NASA OSTEM client.
Summary: NASA High School Aerospace Scholars, or HAS, is an interactive online learning experience highlighted by a weeklong summer experience. From across the state of Texas, students are nominated to participate by their state legislator through a competitive process. The activity includes preliminary interactive online activities, distance learning, and a summer experience. Selected students are encouraged to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by interacting with scientists and engineers from NASA's Johnson Space Center. Eligible students must be Texas residents and U.S. citizens currently in their junior year of high school (rising seniors) with an interest and aptitude for STEM.
Description: The Design Challenge Facilitator supports a small group of HAS students participating in the online learning community using online learning management systems. During week-long breaks in their course work, HAS students are encouraged to participate in optional engineering design challenges. Students will receive the design challenge prompt and build their prototypes over the course of the week. Design Challenge Facilitators will answer students' questions and facilitate in person sessions on Saturdays, allowing students share and test their prototypes. These tasks are key to participant success and retention. Additionally, the position works collaboratively with the HAS team of education coordinators supporting the HAS activity to ensure the participants progress to meet NASA's STEM Engagement goals and outcomes. The Design Challenge Facilitators provide timely and accurate information to the HAS activity team.
Student Participation:
Design Challenge Facilitators monitor student participation during in person engineering design challenges and facilitate small group conversations and activities during Saturday sessions.
Engagement Organization and Facilitation: Design Challenge Facilitators engage in active planning and facilitation of engineering design challenges. This includes but is not limited to investigating potential local venues to host in-person design challenges, maintaining accurate inventory of materials, and facilitating full STEM lesson cycles for HAS students and their families in an in-person setting.
Efficiency and Productivity:
Design Challenge Facilitators create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Attend mandatory online training sessions. Effectively apply methodology and enforce project standards. Support day-to-day operational aspects of a project working within scope, cost, and schedule by establishing milestones and priorities. Ensure procedures are followed. Support project evaluation and reporting.
Communication:
Design Challenge Facilitators communicate effectively with NSTEM management, HAS education coordinators and internal and external partners and clients. Communicate in a professional, courteous, conscientious, and timely manner. All communications with students must take place through the online learning management system.
Teamwork:
Design Challenge Facilitators promote a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner that is respectful of others. Encourage cooperation, collaboration, and co-ownership of success. Communicate honestly and openly, listen attentively, and assume responsibility for resolving difficulties appropriately. Support diversity in establishing relationships in which all individuals are valued, appreciated, and included.

Candidate must meet the following requirements and qualifications:
Field of Study: Education or Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics Education
Experience: Three years successful classroom teaching experience in grades 7-12 or college level required, including successful student engagement through virtual and in-person STEM experiences.
Required: Must be able to commit to training and in person facilitation on Saturday.
