Undulator Scientist (f/m/d)
European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.
For our Undulator System group we are looking for an
Undulator Scientist (m/f/d)
The Position
The main task for this position is the development, commissioning and operation of SUNDAE2.
This includes:
- Development of an advanced pulsed wire system to be able to reconstruct the local field profile for long devices with short periods, in particular for SCUs
- Realization of the stretched wire system to measure the field integrals
- Participation to the development of a Hall probe local field measurement system to be applied to conduction cooled SCU
Requirements
- Degree in physics, electrical engineering, mechatronic or similar
- Experience in one of the following fields would be beneficial: accelerator physics, cryogenics, superconducting magnets, undulators, magnetic field measurements
- Hands on experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi-lingual, multi-disciplinary team with English as working language
- Knowledge of German is an asset
