Sandia National Laboratories is searching for an Electronic Resources and Document Services Technical Librarian to join the Technical Library team located in sunny Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The candidate selected for this position will be required to have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-granted “Q-level” security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship. A security clearance is not required to start.
The Sandia National Laboratories Technical Library provides quality information products and services that support the research needs of the engineers, scientists, and staff of Sandia National Laboratories. Using the most current technology and employee expertise, the Technical Library acquires, organizes, manages, and delivers a variety of information resources and systems.
The Sandia National Laboratories Technical Library is seeking an innovative, highly motivated, energetic and forward-thinking librarian/information scientist to become part of its Technical Library Team. The selected candidate will split their time supporting the functions of electronic resources and document services. In the role of Electronic Resources Librarian, the selected candidate will support management in the purchasing and licensing of electronic materials; manage electronic subscriptions through electronic resource management applications such as SFX; collect usage statistics and create reports needed to manage and monitor electronic resource subscriptions; and provide customer access support and troubleshoot issues, as needed. In the role of Document Services Librarian, the selected candidate will manage the Library's document services contract and self-service platform; provide user support; and research hard-to-locate document needs. Professional librarians afforded the opportunity to work at Sandia will be actively engaged in ground-floor development of meeting the needs of Sandia's researchers and management through the deliberate use and deployment of technology as a research and reporting tool.
The selected candidate will participate in, and contribute to, all aspects of library activities. He or she will determine what types of technical literature searches and sources of information meet the information needs of Sandia National Laboratories researchers. Candidate will also conduct searches of technical literature, analyzes and evaluates data, extracts pertinent information, and prepares abstracts and bibliographies. The individual will also maintain extensive knowledge of literature resources; maintain and improve information retrieval capabilities, including engaging in technology-developing, configuring, deploying and supporting technologies that deliver library products and services; assist in the selection of literature for inclusion in the library's collection; and, provides instruction and support for users of library and information service.
